Yes I was one of the fortunate few to fly the last flight on GALZO.
Unforunately I do not have any 'photos of the event but several memories.
The cabin crew were in the "old" Dan-Air uniforms complete with forage caps
The Police motorcycle outriders for our convoy from Rheims airport to The
House of Heidsieck, and flagged down traffic at all the junctions to allow
us a non-stop trip.
once we arrived we were driven round the vinyards and back to follow the
process of producing the champagne from pressing to bottling. We visited
the caves where it is matured.
Then we went for tasting and lunch. I have never seen so much champagne in
my life! As soon as one had drunk a couple of mouthfuls the glasses were
being topped up and this went through the lunch. At one point the engineer
Jock Mills suggested to Capt. Collier that he could declare the aircraft
tech so we could have a nightstop! I think Pete Collier was tempted but
decided that wasn't a good idea.
We were then driven to Rheims city were we had an hour or so to do as we
wanted before returning for the flight home.
Best regards
